“It feels like I’m going to the gym 7 days a week and not shifting any weight!”
“Every afternoon I am asleep at my desk!”
“I do eat healthy, I can lose weight but it always comes back”
“I don’t have time to train all the time”
“Exercise is so boring. I hate going to the gym”
“No matter whether I go to yoga, Pilates or get beasted by my trainer my stomach still sticks out and my bum follows me”
Having worked with hundreds of clients you learn all about the ins and outs of what makes people tick, you learn the things you need to focus on to get results, and although the saying there are many ways to skin a cat and we are all different are two of the phrases I use on an almost daily basis at the start of your journey with a client it can feel like a cop out. However when you hear the questions above on a weekly basis for over 20 years you have to appreciate the benefit of personalising how you coach clients on exercise, nutrition and lifestyle.
There is so much information out there and that helps the confusion. The confusion on what is the best plan for you to get results then leads to you giving up when things don’t go to plan. The human never moves in a straight line, human biology just doesn’t work like that we are too complex. So when you change your diet lose weight then don’t, was it the wrong diet in first place? Do you need to be stricter? Is it your willpower? Then soon guilt, feelings of failure and that you are just plain lazy and getting yourself to the weight and body shape you want is just not achievable, you need to accept it and give up! Or you take on more and more fitness classes, run longer, further, take up hot yoga to sweat it all out, whatever it is and its not working all adds to the confusion of what is right for you.
If you knew the right approach, the right steps to take, what to work on when and then what to do when things are not working out exactly as you had hoped you can actually stay on track and get those results. When I am coaching a client as well providing the information I believe they need to focus on they also have me working with them to keep them accountable, helping develop those life changing transformational habits that build up to long term, lasting results. Coaching provides that one to two punch, the right information and the backup to stick with it, avoiding confusion and accountability.
Have you tried every type of workout and all the latest diets and still feel fat, tired, struggle to sleep, bloating, gas, anxiety, depression?
This is what my typical client comes to me wanting to put a stop to, what they have had enough of and are ready to change.
Here are some of the most common dietary dilemmas we work with;
- Going vegan? – But get a lot of gas and energy dips middle of the day.
- Tried the Ketogenic Diet? – Don’t digest fats very well and you wouldn’t want someone using the toilet after you.
- Went Paleo or even more current have tried the Carnivore Diet? – Energy keeps dipping and crave carbs more than ever.
- Decided to go for it and try Intermittent Fasting? – Struggle to sleep, skin breaks out and go to the toilet bizarrely even less often.
- Kill it or cure it and dived into Low Fat, Low Calorie? – Just about no energy, cranky, turn into the devil witch, constantly peeing and every time you save up points and have wine or cake you pile all the weight back on.
You may have struggled on any of these diets because of low hormones, poor digestion lacking the enzymes and stomach acid to breakdown the food and get the nutrition in to your body you need in fact keeping you nutritionally deficient. If your detoxification organs (skin, lungs, digestive system and liver and kidneys) need some support based on how much you have previously over used them yet again you could be setting yourself up for failure.
When you are under stress your body has limited resources and your metabolism has to make judgement calls, how best to mobile defences and utilises its resources. So the more you bring in toxins, either from the environment (pollution, poor quality food, personal care products) or internally from say foods you are sensitive to or from toxins and metabolic waste created by having too many of the wrong type of bugs (parasites, bacteria, fungus, viruses) or lack of the right bugs (probiotics) your body basically becomes less efficient, struggles to recover and repair itself and the net effect can mean its harder to lose fat.
Simple lab tests, you can do in your own home can highlight the stresses and strains on your system and pinpoint where the focus needs to be shifted in terms of the right food, the right exercise and lifestyle changes to suit the information discovered. No more guessing or copying what’s worked for someone else, but for you right here and now.
The solution is to figure out the underlying issues that have stopped you achieving your goals. You cannot just keep copying what everyone else is doing, trying what pops up in your facebook feed or repeating the mistakes of the past.
If you are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired then we can work together to design a far more personalised approach to resolving all these what may seem like never-ending problems.
